About Paul

Paul has been providing counselling to individuals and families now for over 25 years. He is best known for 15 years of providing general mental health services to children, teens, and their parents and families through a local out-patient mental health service, CMHC/Trellis, before leaving to pursue this private practice.

Paul attended Wilfrid Laurier University to obtain his Masters degree in Social Work with a diploma in Social Administration in 1992. He has his Certificate in Conflict Resolution and Mediation from Conrad Grebel University College, University of Waterloo. Before that, he has his honours undergraduate degree in Psychology from York University and his college diploma from Sheridan College in 1983 for Microcomputer Management.

Paul ran a small private practice, while working full time, for 2 years in Fergus, and now runs his private practice out of his home office close to Elora, but easily accessible to Elmira, Waterloo, and Guelph. Paul has a volunteer relationship with Community Justice Initiatives in Waterloo Region to exercise his conflict management and mediation skills. He has experience with the development of Parenting Plans, as well as assisting parents and children to cope and adjust when separating/divorcing.

For 10 years, Paul ran an emotional regulation group for teens, with school staff in the Fergus high school. He also developed and ran the CMHC/Trellis group, “Parenting The Extreme Teen”, for 6 years in Arthur, Ontario.

Paul has significant training in Brief and Narrative Therapies, Inter-personal Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Over his years of practice, Paul has maintained ongoing training in topics such as family work, addictions, children’s mental health, learning disabilities, assessment skills, trauma treatment, grief, chronic pain, and many more.

Paul is a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers, and is registered with the College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. Related to his mediation work, he is also a member of the ADR Institute (Alternative Dispute Resolution) Ontario.


About Anna

Anna trained in Divorce & Family Mediation and has obtained her Certificate in Conflict Management and Mediation through Conrad Grebel University College, University of Waterloo. She has experience developing Parenting Plans for couples with children who are separating and are concerned with the well-being of their children.

Anna has over 20 years experience working in small business environments, and has significant expertise in accounting and financial management, as well as experience with Human Resources, and addressing conflict mediation in the workplace.

Anna’s financial expertise, her experience with conflict mediation in the workplace, together with her training in divorce mediation / family mediation, gives Anna the excellent skill set not only to help you with mediating your divorce and to develop a child focused parenting plan, but to go even further by assisting with mediating financial matters related to divorce and separation. Helping you realize financial options you may not even be aware of can go far to ease the process.

In addition to her solid people skills, Anna uses her strong financial skills and knowledge to efficiently help mediation clients ensure the process is fair and balanced. While addressing financial issues can be initially stressful, common feedback on Anna is that she brings a wonderful calming influence to the table with her.


Therapy Dogs

Here at Young Solutions our small non-shedding, hypoallergenic therapy dogs will be happy to greet you at the door, and are regularly available to sit in on sessions. They are happy for a lap when offered, and enjoy a good scratch. Our therapy dogs are friendly, patient, and gentle.

It has been shown that therapy dogs provide affection and comfort to clients and their presence can help reduce the experience of stress, both for adults and children.
